WELCOME TO THE BLOG

You can see the most recent sessions and weddings here, and get a sneak peak into who I am. Look on the menu bar to learn more about my photography, to see wedding or portrait pricing, to see my portfolio, to book me, or to contact me. Enjoy looking around the blog and leave a comment if you would like!

Finally getting around to answer some of the questions I got asked. If you have a question you want answered ask me here: http://www.formspring.me/heathergarland If it’s relevant I will answer it here!

So what inspires me & keeps me inspired? What a loaded question. The biggest thing that inspires me is other photographers. I am subscribed to so many blogs (probably too many) all in my RSS feeds in my Mac Mail. I keep updated with all my favorite photographers from around the country constantly. When I see a pose, a location, a light, an outfit, anything I like I save the image in an inspiration folder on my desktop. Before a shoot or wedding I go to the right folder and look over them. I load any that I love on my iPhone and use them for inspiration. Of course, I never copy the photo I use the pose as inspiration and change it to fit whoever I am photographing.

I also love looking at amazing catalogs for inspiration. This is especially great for seniors. Some good ones are Alloy, Delias, Pacific Sunwear, and especially Antropologie. They all have online catalogs as well. So hope that inspires you too. Also, a good inspiration for clients are these catalogs as well! They have some amazing fashion ideas and some great ideas for what to wear to sessions.

Hilary - I do the same thing. Im glad im not the only one. :) Your photos are def. in my inspiration folder ;)

I had planned on doing a post on my new packaging today, but my packaging got featured on Paperie Boutique!

So instead of typing it all again, go check out my Guest Post. It was such an honor to get to write a guest post for a website I admire so much, and to get so many amazing compliments from people I looked to for inspiration for my packaging. Go check it out, leave a comment, and check out my amazing designer who made everything look so good.

Also, I am considering selling 1 inch & 2 inch round and scalloped stickers. Please send me an email if you would be interested in purchasing these, so I can make a decision if I will or not.

Donna Ashburn - I am an amateur working toward becoming a pro, I was researching on putting a blog together and found your blog article. I absolutely love it! Wonderful! If I could that is what I would love to be able to do, I also think like you regarding your clients and your packaging... it looks like you are giving them a gift! However, I am trying to figure out how to do the best you can on a tight budget and still have it look good. Suggestions are always welcome ha ha... but really... thanks for sharing and great inspirations!

Kelly Prizel - I totally love that you had that huge blog post at paperie boutique- it was so inspiring! I would buy the scalloped stickers in a heart beat.

Melissa - Love the way you brought everything together. I would definitely be interested in the circle stickers if you start doing them!

Heather Mulholland - Congrats!!

Lydia Shannon - Hi Heather!!! Your packaging is absolutely AMAZING! Thanks for giving me so much inspiration!

Lynda - Wow! So very proud of you! All the packaging is beautiful!

If you are a twitterer (is that a word? haha) you might have seen the new craze going around, FormSpring. It is a great way to ask someone ANYTHING both with your account or anonymously. I love it because sometimes you can ask the questions you might otherwise feel silly asking if your name was attached. I have been sending out links to ask me questions on twitter but I wanted to open it up to my clients as well. So both photographers and clients alike, ASK ME ANYTHING at all, it can be photography related or about my favorite food. I promise to answer it, and if it is a big enough topic you might see a blog about it in the future. You can ask here with the widget or go to http://www.formspring.me/heathergarland. Ask Away!

Shannon White - I saw your guest post on Paperie Boutique. I love your packaging, but the personal sites for the wedding customers is the bomb diggity! Love them! If you are ever in Raleigh let me know. It's always fun to meet fellow photographers.
