So half of this post has to do with some really awesome new stuff, but it is all tied in to getting to know something about me too. I really am running out of things to write. So PLEASE leave me comments telling me what to write about.

Today I am talking about the fact that I am a Marketing Major. I started as a Fine Arts major thinking it would be really fun, and after one semester I realized it is not where I was supposed to be. That is when I switched half way through to a Business Marketing major. I think skills are REALLY important in photography but there is only a point to where skills can be taught and when they have to be developed. You can only teach some one how to use the camera, they must figure out how to use it well. However, successful photographers not only have these skills but also GREAT marketing and business skills. Thus, why I changed. However, I do not officially start business classes until next semester, I am really excited and am trying to step up my marketing skills now. To that my great designer Tracy designed me some awesome new things!

Just a tip for new (or old) photographers HIRE A PROFESSIONAL DESIGNER. Even if you think you know photoshop, get someone to design for you. They can see what shines through your work when you can’t. I promise you, it is just as important as your camera! People are drawn to professional looking websites and logos.

First off my new business cards came in yesterday. I absolutely love them! They are on recycled paper and have semi-gloss over them. Tracy did an OUTSTANDING job on these.

Tracy also helped me out with my new wedding & portrait welcome packs. I went and bought some cute teal folders and put in them: Contracts, Timelines, a Welcome Letter, PLUS all new referral program cards that tracy designed.

They will be here within the next week and I am extra excited about them!

Thats not all though, Tracy also put together a ROCKING letterhead/envelope combo for me. I got some really nice recycled letterhead paper also to print them on.

I also mentioned I was organizing all my records and I just love how well organized it is I just wanted to show you guys!

I have contracts, invoices, and cds with originals and edits of every session all nicely in a notebook. I also have all my old prices including, as you can see my very first ones, to keep up with how much people paid me.

And it is all separated by month and it matches my receipt holder….

So now you know a little bit more about what I am studying and hopefully I can learn and a lot. I hope I can get a lot better at marketing and I hope you guys enjoy the new goodies!
